FK Qarabag vs Tottenham
Football: UEFA Europa League
26th November 2015 – Kickoff time 19:00

Tottenham can seal qualification to the knockout stages if they can get the win here on Thursday night. When they met earlier in the group at White Hart Lane, Tottenham had to come from behind to register the win. They will be up against the home side who haven’t lost a home match all season in Europe.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can complete the UEFA Europa League double over their opponents. The Premier League side had to come from behind at White Hart Lane in the first meeting between the two clubs, but managed to get the win and are capable of repeating that feat on their travels now. Tottenham are in good form having lost only two of their last seventeen matches in all competitions. However, one of those defeats did come on the road in their last Europa League match at Anderlecht.

The only worry here is that Tottenham do have that big clash on a Sunday lunchtime London derby against Chelsea which may force them into some big changes to rest some players. But the fact is that Tottenham have scored in all except one of their last fourteen matches played and are good enough to avoid defeat even if it isn’t their strongest starting eleven.

When they played against Qarabag at home, it was their first match against a side from Azerbaijan and their trip to Baku on Thursday will be their first competitive match in that country. However, Tottenham aren’t in great away form it has to be said because they are without a win in their last four in Europe, losing three of those. So a draw could perhaps be expected here. But that would leave work for them in their final match still. The players to watch for the English Premier League side will be Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son. However, it still depends on their starting lineups.

Meanwhile Qarabag haven’t lost in Europe on home soil this season so they will be eager to keep that record intact on Thursday night. They have played five there and have managed a W2 D3 record. They do have a strong defence as well as they have conceded one goal only and that was when Monaco scored an equaliser against them on Match Day Four in Baku. But they are not a high scoring side either as they entered Europe this season in the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League qualifiers, and in their ten games in total which they have played in Europe this term, they have scored just eight goals. And only in one of those matches did they hit more than one goal in a game. To throw caution to the wind, they did managed a home win over Anderlecht and took that draw against Monaco.

The Pick :

FK Qarabag 0-3 Tottenham
